What do you do to celebrate leap day?
I started a new tradition today. Hiking up Stone Mountain with my husband and taking a picture at the top.
When I was growing up, I always said I wanted to get married on the top of Stone Mountain. (Why, I don’t know. It’s really windy at the top!) Also around that time I said I wanted to get married on February 29th because I thought that would be an awesome anniversary. (I still think that. If I was willing to wait until today to get married, I would have. But not on the top of Stone Mountain.) That, of course, went to my wish of getting married on the top of Stone Mountain on February 29th. So it only seemed fitting that I celebrate today by climbing Stone Mountain with my husband. And, of course, taking a picture. I put other pictures on Flickr. Check them out!
I left my house this morning and noticed that the roofs of the buildings around me all had a dusting of snow. I was really surprised! I didn’t realize it was that cold. It flurried my whole way to work, but it didn’t slow down traffic at all, and I enjoyed it.
I have been absent from the internet as of late; I apologize. I’ve been busy lately. Besides working, I have been filling my evenings with friends and watching season 7 of Gilmore Girls. Paul and I met another couple who we have been hanging out with. It’s been great – we have definitely “hit it off” and I’ve loved it. They have a cute little house which has started me looking wishfully at real estate websites. I realized as I was looking last night that the houses that appeal to me the most are unique-looking ones with lots of trees in the yard. No cookie-cutter subdivisions for me! I also realized that I want a house with an “extra” room to be used for homeschooling, if possible. Eh, it’s only wishing and dreaming right now.
The wife half of the couple we have been hanging out with sells Mary Kay, so I’m having a party at my house tonight. I’m excited to get some new makeup! (They are coming in about 45 minutes so I really should go get dinner ready and finish cleaning the house. Ah, procrastination…) I had to have at least 3 friends come in order to get a discount on my makeup, but alas I could not find three people. :-( That made me sad, but at least we’ll have fun with the two people who do come. And, Paul is going to spend some guy-time with the husband so I think that will be good for him too.
We also have plans to go on a camping trip with our friends!! In April, when the weather gets warm. (Paul is still not used to April being a “warm” month.) I’m so excited!! We have been looking excitedly at our camping stuff – it’s been too long! We also hope to meet up with Sopeak & Zay and go camping sometime in the spring as well. I am so excited to be camping again!!
Work is going well; it’s an adjustment, but isn’t it always? I enjoy my coworkers a lot and working again has satisfied the extrovert half of my personality. I’ve been really tired when I get home, and feeling very lazy. :-) Hence the no blogging. It’s barely enough for me to keep up with emails! I have very quickly fallen back to quick dinners and eating out. I’ve also discovered the inexpensive salads at the cafeteria at my office and have been having those every day. Yay for eating healthy (I’ve been trying to focus on veggies and skipping the dressing), boo for spending the money every day. I’m such a lazy cook – I eat healthy only if someone else makes the food. I really need to get over that.
Well I am going to go finish cleaning. And eat dinner. And hopefully tonight I’ll package up the Gilmore Girls Season 7 DVD to send to Becky. :-) (Are you excited yet, Becky?)
Joanna sent me this and I loved it.

A few weeks ago, our desktop computer broke. :-( We had to wait until I got my first paycheck to get a new computer, and Paul set about looking for a good deal. We finally found one – a Dell Inspiron 530s and it’s quite snazzy.
It’s all white and pretty, reminding me of a Mac. Also, it came with Windows Vista, so I have been playing around with that. It too reminds me of OSX (Mac operating system) with its focus on visual “prettiness”. So far I’m pretty excited about Vista. I haven’t tried loading Adobe CS2 yet. According to the Adobe website, CS2 won’t work completely in Vista since it came out two years before Vista. I think we may have to bite the bullet and get the $1800 Adobe CS3 software. :-( Ah the expenses of being a graphic designer! That will come after we finish paying off our car, though. :-)
We also got an external harddrive to get all the files off the old computer. We found it on Craigslist, and the guy lived like 5 minutes from my office, and right off the road I take to go home. Paul was nervous about me picking it up by myself, but (obviously) everything turned out okay. I still haven’t pulled off all my stuff, but I did get all my music over and iTunes set up on this computer.
As I mentioned in the comments of a previous post, I got an iPod Touch for my birthday. I never wanted an iPod until I saw the Touch, and I love it!! It’s basically an iPhone without some of the features, like the phone part. :-) I am able to access WiFi internet, and I recently found out that the new iPod Touch comes with a “mail” program! I was really bummed and had these elaborate plans to sell mine and buy a new one until I found out that existing owners can upgrade their iPods. So, I am going to do that. I am excited. :-)
Thanks to Kacie for tagging me!!
1. What is the one BIG goal you hope to accomplish this week? Go grocery shopping. Hehe I have very small goals. I’m still getting used to the whole working full-time and 45-minute-commute thing.
2. What is the one household chore you do NOT like to do? Cleaning out the catbox. Or ironing. Or washing dishes by hand.
3. What would you buy if someone gave you $2,000? (all debts and bills paid) Hmm… so hard to choose! I think I’d buy my parents a car. They need a new one. Or my sister – she needs one too.
4. Describe yourself using one word. Paul’s input is “Hot”, but I think he might be the only one with that opinion. :-) So I will say “talkative”
5. What is the one saying or theme that you live by? “Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first.” :-)
6. What is the one household item you can NOT live without? My cats. Does that count? Otherwise I’d have to say my computer.
7. If you had one chance to go anywhere in the world where would you go? Greece. (THAT was hard.)
8. List one person you admire. My college roomie, Tree. I am constantly amazed at her strong faith, and she has always been so encouraging and supportive of me. I love you, roomie!
9. What is one thing people may not know about you? I’m running out of answers to this question that I’m willing to reveal on my blog. :-) Um, let’s say… I used to be obsessed with turtles. BEFORE I was obsessed with cats! Imagine that!
I think most of my friends have been tagged, so I will just say to please play along if you want to! :-) Now I am tired and am going to bed.
