sunday ponderings: pray for rain

sunday ponderings: pray for rain

Before I begin, I just wanted to say something for the record. I’ve decided to start writing my posts a week behind. So, this is about last Sunday. That gives me a week to think about the sermon and meditate on it. Then I will post it Saturday night, so that y’all have a place to leave your links whenever you are able to write your posts. This makes for a more restful Sunday for me!

Anyways… I really love the worship at our church. I love that they have both praise music and hymns. I love that they are more interested in worshiping God than in making a great show. That helps me worship better.

We sang a song that really touched my heart. As some of you know, Georgia has been suffering from a bad drought. We need rain! We sang this song in church (click on the title to listen to the song; I highly recommend that you do that! It’s a great song). I love the idea of comparing our physical need with a spiritual need (“dry and thirsty souls”). But, I’ll just let you read the words and listen to the song and let Jesus speak to you directly. :-)

Hear Us From Heaven
by Jared Anderson

Lord, hear our cry
Come heal our land
Breathe life into these dry and thirsty souls
Lord hear our prayer
Forgive our sin
And as we call on Your name
Would You make this a place for Your glory to dwell

Open the blind eyes
Unlock the deaf ears
Come to Your people
As we draw near
Hear us from Heaven
Touch our generation
We are Your people
Crying out in desperation

Hear us from Heaven
Hear us from Heaven
Hear us from Heaven
