a little bit of wedding stuff

I just had a couple of things to mention, based on some questions people have asked.

• I finished our wedding website (there is a link to my wedding blog from there). We have lots of info on there, especially for out-of-towners, so we’re trying to keep it updated. If you have any suggestions/comments, let me know.

• A lot of you verbally told me this weekend that you weren’t coming, but if possible I’d really appreciate it if you could go ahead and mail back the RSVP card anyways! You can also RSVP on our website. That way, I will have a record of your (non) attendance and won’t bug you later. :-)

• We have heard of a couple of people who haven’t gotten their invitations. If I emailed you for your address and never received one, please email me. If you know you were invited (which was pretty much all the people we still keep in contact with) and never got your invitation, email me. If you don’t think you were invited and would still like to come, you are welcome to join our celebration (hey, the more the merrier!). :-) Just RSVP on our website.

• If you are flying in from out of town, send me your flight info. We are compiling a list of all the people we need to pick up, and so we might be already picking someone else up at the same time!

• Send back your RSVPs even if you’re not coming please. Send them back even if you are part of the wedding party and we know you are coming. It’s just good to have a record, and to know if you are bringing a guest or not.

I think that’s it. Thank you for your time!

back in Georgia

What a fun, exhausting weekend!

Friday: Drove 12 hours, including stopping in Nashville and picking up Bethany. We stayed the night in Kokomo, Indiana. Lesson learned: When you stop at a hotel at 1:30 in the morning, you can get discounted rates at the hotel. We stayed in Holiday Inn and it was sooo nice. I didn’t want to leave!

Saturday: Drove 3 hours to Michigan. Arrived at church an hour and a half early. Decided we wanted lunch and proceeded to get lost. Had long conversations as to what was being grown in the fields we saw. (Anyone know?) Stopped at a library to get directions to food and then back to the church. Arrived at church and saw a beautiful ceremony. Threw birdseed at the bride and groom. Drove to the reception. Enjoy the company of old college friends as we waited for the bride and groom. Ate dinner. Took pictures. Did not catch the bouquet. My last chance to ever catch a bouquet! Oh well. Tearfully said goodbye. Drove 4 hours to Indianapolis. Stopped for the night. Paid the same rate as the previous night for a motel room of significantly lower quality. (I’m telling you, 1:30 in the morning is the key!) Slept soundly for 9 or 10 hours.

Sunday: Woke up, showered, dressed, and left Indy by 10 am. Drove 10 hours to Atlanta (including stopping in Nashville at Bethany’s house). Gave Paul a hug and told him I missed him. Love on my cats, who tried to snub me in protest to me leaving. Went to bed but could not sleep, so I took a Benedryl. Had trouble waking up in the morning.

That should sum it up for you! :-) I enjoyed traveling with Bethany a lot! And we had a lot of great conversations. (Used cows for sale, anyone?) And of course the wedding was beautiful… It’s so fun when you know both the bride and the groom well! Of course Gerig couples are always fun too. :-)

Well I’ve been trying to upload pictures but it’s taking forever… I’m told it’s because I have DSL and not cable. *shrugs* Oh well, I will post a link when it’s (finally) done!

weddings!

I don’t have much time… Tomorrow I am leaving for Michigan and Ann & David’s wedding! Hooray, I’m really excited. I talked to Zay tonight and found out she’s going to be there! That’s happy.

Okay, must go pack now. Ciao!

lack of comments

So, it seems that ever since I changed my template to the new design, I have gotten considerably less comments. Should I switch the design back? Is there something on here that rubs people the wrong way? Or is it the content, in that for some reason it is uncommentable? Or perhaps (and probably more likely) my dear readers are busy, or out of town, as is common in the summertime.

I keep thinking today is Thursday. I’m afraid I am going to act on those fears. I think it’s because I don’t have choir practice tonight, when I normally do. It throws me off when something from our schedule is missing. :-) I’m actually probably just about done with choir until the end of the summer. They usually take a break because so many people are traveling, etc. that we just don’t have enough to pull off the pieces of music we’re used to doing. Also, the choir director has been out of town, which makes it hard to practice. :-) I personally am glad for the break. I like singing, and I love the fellowship with the other choir members, but I also like sitting in the service next to Paul and not having to worry about singing the right notes. Although last Sunday we sang “Holy, Holy, Holy” and I know the alto part for that (thanks to my mother!), so I sang the harmony happily. It sounded nice… And that is such a pretty hymn.

I’m trying to think of interesting things to say that aren’t relating to the wedding (don’t want to bore you! get your RSVPs in ;-)), and aren’t related to the car (gotta take it back to the mechanic today… 3rd day in the row, not counting once last week).

Okay, reader interaction! What sorts of topics would you, as a reader, like to hear about? Let me know and I will happily comply. (And yes, I do write in my blog for my readers… If it’s just for myself then I would write in my paper journal.)
