I was reading this the other day from Genesis 29:

“So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her.”

It made me think. Am I willing to wait 7 years for my Paul? If he does join the military, like he’s looking at doing right now, then it could be 7 years (from when we started dating) until we’re able to get married. Am I willing to wait that long?

Impatience is probably the biggest thing I struggle with, and that side of me is yelling “NO!” But perhaps God is trying to gently encourage me to be more patient and wait for His timing. Perhaps I need to look to Jacob right now, and follow his example – of working hard and waiting patiently in order to get the one I love.
