TGIF!

TGIF!

It’s Friday! That’s good news in my book. Now that Paul has normal weekends off from work, Fridays are even more special. Of course, he’s probably going to have to work late tonight, sad. :-( (Big news events, like earthquakes in Japan, always make things a little crazy in the newsroom.)

I decided to go to another consignment sale today. I didn’t like it as much as the one I went to on Wednesday – it was more expensive and was most likely picked over by the time I got there. But, I did get something I’m really excited about – a PeaPod! I looked into these last October when I was traveling, as a smaller/lighter alternative to a pack & play, but I couldn’t find any used and they are so expensive new. But I picked one up today and set it up when we got home, and I’m really excited. We do a lot of traveling, and I’m hoping this will fit into our small car better than a huge pack & play. It will also be good for camping!

If you’re not familiar with what a PeaPod is – I wasn’t, until my cousin recommended it – then here are two pictures I stole off KidCo’s site:

KidCo’s PeaPod™ the travel bed that does it all for the on-the-go parent! The inflatable air mattress helps protect baby from cold, damp floors while providing a comforting place to sleep. Great for outdoors because of its UV protection and wind screens. Zippered panels allow parents quick and easy access to baby from virtually any angle. The slick, easy to fold design makes it ideal for storage and use anytime. Weighs 4.75 lbs.

I’m excited to try it out! I will let you know how I like it. :-)

In other news (microblogging now… argh I miss posting things to Facebook!!!):
* I put Savannah’s hair in pigtails today. I’ve been waiting for it to get long enough that I could put *all* her hair up without it falling out. It looked sooo cute!! I didn’t get a picture, but maybe I’ll get one when she gets up from her nap.
* It’s gorgeous outside. We had a brief cold snap, but it’s supposed to be highs in the 70s this weekend! And high 60s all week next week.
* Looks like Atlanta is going to get some streetcars!! I’m a fan of public transportation, so I’m excited about this.
* I’m starting a reading plan for Lent. I’m a few days late starting, but I’m excited about this since it’s also the first time I’ve ever given up something for Lent. I really like these reading plans – they make me excited to dive into the Bible!

  1. The PeaPod sounds great! It seems like the perfect thing for camping, I hope Savannah likes it!

  2. A blogging friend with quadruplets loves the PeaPods for her boys instead of pack & plays for travel- I agree, they look good for camping too. I plan to use a travel bed for camping this summer. A pack & play wouldn’t come close to fitting in our tent, and our full-sized air mattress doesn’t have room for 3.

I went to a consignment sale last night, but only got one thing (a tummy time mat)- most items will be half off tomorrow, so I may go back tomorrow morning. Tis the season!

  3. Ooh, the pea pod is a great find! I’ve been intrigued by those, as our car does NOT fit all our gear well, but I’m just not willing to swing for one new. Let me know how you like it! I can always hope to stumble upon a used one too ;-).

  4. Yeah, when you’re sleeping on the floor (in a tent), a pack & play feels odd and far away. When we went camping, we found one of those under-bed rubbermaid containers worked pretty well… but then, Savannah never rolled around while sleeping. I think she’s most likely outgrown that now (as she has outgrown the travel bed you linked to, Joanna – though that is perfect for babies). Hopefully this peapod is comfy to her! Susan – I scored this one for $15. (They are like $75 new, so I thought that was a good price. But you might be able to find one cheaper?)

  5. I found them for more like $55 on Amazon, but $15??? Wow. Most consignment sales I go to seem to want a much larger percentage of their original purchase price back :-P. I would totally get one used for $15 or 20 :-).

  6. He he. Yup, good post! It looks great for infants, when you just want them to nap anywhere without having to set up a pack n’ play.
