can you believe it’s December already?

can you believe it’s December already?

I can’t. It seems from Facebook that a lot of cities north of us got their first snow today. Here, it was chilly but the sun was out and so it felt warm in the car. That’s been a nice change after the past two days with the torrential rain. This morning, Savannah and I went to the toddler storytime at the library. She was a little young for it (it’s for 2-3 year olds) but she really enjoyed the music and dancing. She really loves to dance! I think when she starts walking she’ll be able to participate more.

Yesterday was Savannah’s 3rd PT session. It was a tough session… It’s the first time I’ve felt frustrated for her. She only lasted about 45 minutes before she just completely broke down and we decided she was done for the day. I don’t know if it’s because of traveling last week, or if the therapist just pushed her a little more. The therapist did notice that she loved the music and would bounce and “dance” while standing when the music was playing. That’s a good thing to keep in mind as a motivator. I’m trying to get her to stand for a little while each day, but it’s tough. Poor girl; she looked so pathetic.

This afternoon I decided to tackle the guest room closet, where all my craft supplies are. I have quite the plethora of goods, going back to my time at Taylor as an art student. With all the different classes I took, I picked up all sorts of supplies, especially for my 3D design class. Then, since college, I have dabbled in sewing, cross-stitching, scrapbooking, and stamping. I also inherited a bunch of stuff from my grandmother when she moved a few years ago. Right now, everything is on the guest room bed. I need to decide what hobbies I’m interested in pursuing further and then get rid of the supplies for everything else. It’s so hard, though! I enjoy all of those things… I just don’t do them very often. Argh! Decisions.

I also need to set up the Jesse tree so we can begin that today. (Here’s more about the Jesse Tree if you’re interested.) We didn’t do it last year – I think it could be a fun tradition to do every other year or so, unless we feel it’s important to do it more often. We’ll see how Savannah responds to the tree. :-) She seems to love the Christmas trees in the store – she just points at the lights, fascinated.

I suppose I should go clean up the living room so we can begin decorating for Christmas. We need to get a Christmas tree! I am waffling between being really excited to share my favorite season with Savannah, and being so tired that I don’t feel like doing anything. You’d think a weeklong break over Thanksgiving would have done it, but I’m still tired. :-) Nap, anyone?

  1. Zay and I were just talking about how it was November/December and the fact it’s light jacket weather here. Today’s high is in the mid-60s I believe. My mom told me that there’s another snow front headed their way tonight up in Chicagoland. I told her I’m jealous :)

Best of luck with Savannah! I always cringed taking my baby brother to the doctor when we were younger. I can’t imagine how I’d take it if it were my kid.

  2. Yeah it’s hard to watch Savannah get so frustrated but I know this is what she needs to be doing right now. I just wish this process of learning to walk wasn’t so hard for her. :-(
