So today brought my first day at my new job. Let me say, I am exhausted.

I woke up at 4am this morning with a bad headache. I took some Excedrin and went to back to bed. Unfortunately, I never did fall asleep (but the headache did go away!). I was so nervous about my first day, and also the neighbors upstairs were very mobile this morning! (I do not understand how they can be up and moving 24 hours of the day.) I was able to make it to work okay, and even managed to stay awake until I got home and took a nap. :-)

This office looks like it’s going to be a nice place to work! It reminds me a lot of CNN actually; a somewhat laid-back environment that still has real deadlines. The people seem great. I am on a team with 4 other designers, and it seems that we will be working pretty closely together. The graphic design department at this company is fairly new, since about June, so we’re all figuring out the best way to approach things.

I got to spend the majority of my day setting up my computer and attempting to get email, the server, and Sametime working. I spent most of my time calling the help desk, trying to find someone who understood my problem to help me! Apparently, we are the only 6 people with Mac computers in the company, so we have thrown a curve-ball at them that they don’t necessarily know how to deal with yet. :-)

Tomorrow I will be moving to my normal 7:30-4:30 hours. It will be interesting, as I am not much of a morning person! I am only doing this for Paul. :-) It’s somewhat nice to be back on a schedule – I certainly enjoyed my time freelancing from home, but it does have its drawbacks.

I probably won’t be posting very often, as I get adjusted to my new schedule. Also, this weekend Isaac is coming to visit, so we’ll be busy entertaining! (And that means getting the house ready for company. :-))
