the best of… and questions

the best of… and questions

I was thinking of making a “Best of…” section, highlighting some of my favorite or important posts that I’ve written over the past 5 years. Here’s a start, but I was wondering if anyone has other posts they’ve liked that I should include in the list?

Thoughts
On finances… the best and worst financial things we’ve done (11/13/08)
On miscarriage… hitting a window (6/24/08)
On stereotypes… stereotypes abound (5/15/08)
On frugality… how I saved $21 (12/28/07)
On moving… thoughts of departure (10/18/07)
On losing a dog… dear Jera (8/2/07)
On being a stay-at-home-mom… start right now (6/20/07)
On missionaries… homeland missionaries (8/11/06)
On “home”… aliens on earth (7/20/06)
On a broken engagement… and so begins a new chapter of my life… (8/25/04)

Adventures
On weird eBay stories… I guess I’m out $15 (1/3/09)
On Peru… 10 things about Peru (1/31/07)
On 4th of July adventures… happy 4th of July (one day late) (7/5/06)

Also, I know sometimes blogs I read will bring up an issue, only to never follow through afterwards and say how it was resolved. I’m sure I’ve done that too, so I wanted to give an opportunity for you as the reader to ask me about stuff you’ve been curious. Like, whatever happened to the money that was stolen from you last December? (The bank replaced the money and the thief got away… Oh well to the latter, yay to the former.) These can be just general questions too… maybe things you’ve wondered but I’ve never explained here. Like, does it bother you that you’re taller than your husband? (Yes, but I’m able to look past it most of the time! It’s hard to find shoes that don’t give me height, though. And I really do feel like Mrs. Spratt sometimes because Paul is as thin as a rail! Especially right now. :-))

So ask me any questions you like and I’ll answer them in another post! Or if you have other posts from my archives that you think should make the list then please share them! :-)

  1. hmmmm guess I’m first!! Love your collection of blogs!! I read the one on miscarriage a while back when I first found your blog. We too have suffered the loss of pregnancy, 2 in fact. The first at 6 weeks pregnant and the second at 3 months. It’s something that stays with you forever I think, and yet, I find that since having children, it doesn’t hurt as badly as it once did.

My question for you is, what have you taken away from that experience? Would you say you’re more sensitive than ever? Do you find yourself still hurting inside because of it? or have the joys of this pregnancy taken away most of the pain. I always wonder how women are changed by circumstances such as this. I know for me, it has made me much more sensitive to other women who have experienced it as well as more understanding towards women suffering with infertility (I currently have 2 friends that are suffering) Not to mention grateful beyond belief to our God that He has been gracious enough to bless us over and over with children. It’s amazing and humbling!

Anyhow, I’m sorry I’ve gone on and on! I really enjoy reading your blog and following along with the ups and downs in your life!
