36 Bible memory verses

36 Bible memory verses

This year for Pre-K, we’re doing the Sonlight P4/5 curriculum. I really like it, but I wasn’t a big fan of the verses they chose for memorizing each week. I decided to go through my Bible and write down the verses that have meant something to me. My goal was for us to memorize some foundational verses for understanding who God and Jesus are, what the Bible is, and what it means to be a Christian. I also aimed to get verses that were fairly short and easy for a 4 year old to understand and memorize. I came up with 80 verses, and after a LOT of trouble I shortened it to 36 (one for each week of our school year). I thought I’d share here in case anyone is interested.

(NOTE: I chose verses that have been important in my life, so your list might look different. I had to cut some really awesome verses to get the total down to 36, also, but I kept my original list for when we finish these. :-) All of them are from the NIV 1984 translation of the Bible.)

  1. What a great list! I’d love to hear more about your Sonlight experience. We have many of the titles in that curriculum but I don’t have the manual

  2. We’re starting school two weeks from today. I’m going to be blogging specifically about homeschooling over at my sister-in-law’s blog, http://homeschoolingintheborogroves.blogspot.com/ . (I only plan to blog as I have time, so no promises about how frequent the updates will be. :-)) So far I really like the Sonlight curriculum… we’ll see how it goes once I actually start!
